Key Features:
Stage 1 » Spun Filter – (Common in each case, polypropylene (PP) Spun 10 inches , pore size 5 micron, 130 GSM) captures all particles larger than 5 microns (clay sand, rust, colour, heavy metal etc.) and then supplies crystal and clean water to sediment filter. (Usually need to replace at interval of 5-6 months in normal water conditions). When TDS goes beyond 600 ppm, we use antiscalant balls (food grade) in prefilter, the balls prevents scaling and enhances inilne filters life.
Stage 2. » Sediment Filter (Common in each case) (absolute 5 microns) made from polypropylene & sediment special cloths. Polypropylene is resistant to bacterial growth. The filter captures suspended particles such as sand, silt, loose scale, clay and organic material from the water those if passed from prefilter and then goes to activated block carbon filter.
Stage 3 » Activated Carbon Block Filter (Common in each case) (1000 IV) Made from activated carbon in solid cylindrical block, absorbs harmful chemicals, toxic substances, iodine, chlorine etc., removes odour, and enhances water taste. We the KNL uses only activated block carbon over charcoal granules. Charcoal granules (filled half in filter) floats when water goes through and cannot absorbs the chlorine and impurities properly.
Stage 4 » KNL RO (BARC Technology) Membrane. BARC licensed, 100 GPD, pore size 0.0001 microns. The membrane reduces TDS around 95% with variation of (± 3%) from feed water and maintain all essential minerals around 5% with variation of (± 3%) in drinking water naturally. Flux rates around 22 litres, per hour. The membranes remove arsenic, mercury, lead, cyanide, bromide, pesticides, herbicides, VOCs, bacteria, protozoa, viruses, germs, microbes, colour, smell and all other contaminants from feed water and flushes them through rejected water. The UV cannot eliminate these impurities and TDS controller allows these impurities back in your drinking water.
Stage 5 ». Activated Post Carbon (common in each case) (Coconut shell) the post carbon, half part is filled with coconut granules & half part is inbuilt UF filter. Coconut granules is antibacterial agents and therefore inhibits the bacterial growth and enhances drinking water taste. But does not have much role.
Stage 6 » AAA Filter (optional but very useful) (PH Cartridge) the filter is used to enhance pH of membrane treated water. The filter adds up to pH 3.0 and a little necessary minerals too. The pH cartridge contains different kind of ceramic balls (basically natural stones) & coconut shell charcoal granules. These stones are enriched with essential minerals and contains high pH value too.Therefore when water passes through the cartridge, the pH getting enhanced. There is no chemical but all are natural. We use regulator here to achieve balanced pH in drinking water.
Stage 7 » SS 304 UV Chamber (Optional part). Steel does not react with water but aluminium leaches aluminium oxide which contaminates drinking water. Aluminium oxide causes brain related health problem in a long run. The UV (ultraviolet rays) emits radiation that kill the germs of the water. The NF/RO membrane is sufficient enough and does the job, however, UV can be added for further peace of mind.
Maintenance Schedule: Spun filter at every 5-6 months (normal water condition) and the rest of the filters fitted inside machine having service life 10000 litres or 18 months whichever is earlier. Normally a family consume 6000-7000 litres drinking water per year, easily last up to 18 months. Annual maintenance cost comes around Rs 3000/- with pH cartridge and without pH cartridge around Rs. 2200/- only. (conditions applied).
Warranty & Installation details: The water purifier comes with one year warranty for electrical parts and 6 months for all inline cartridges. The prefilter and cabinet do not cover any warranty. We provide free installation up to 10 km from the location of our service partner. Over 10 km distance charge applicable Rs 100/- to Rs. 300/- (max distance up to 30 km from service partner location). We provide PAN India Installation/service in working days (Monday to Saturday between 10 am to 6.30 pm). In few cases, we may not have service and in this case we provide video call assistance but a normal technician is needed. Please note, the service or installation of the purifier must be routed through KNL customer care number (7303433313 using WhatsApp or call) else the warranty would turn void completely.
Ideal drinking water: TDS is not impurities but composition of minerals (like calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium, zinc, copper, potassium etc.). As per WHO or other prominent institutions, ideal drinking water should have TDS between 100 ppm to 300 ppm, less than 100 ppm is considered poor, less than 50 ppm not permissible in long run but causes lots of health issues, the range 150 ppm to 300 ppm known as mineral water if the water is free from impurities. Water taste mainly depends on TDS, with more TDS water taste hardness increases. The user who consume RO water or demineralized water may feel hard water taste compared to RO water/demineralized water or normal bottle packed water. The water taste develops in couple of weeks’ time.
Advantage/Benefits of BARC RO membrane, water recovery approximately 25% while the traditional RO membrane is limited up to 20% max. TDS controller permits permits the return of impurities to your drinking water.
